Adam Van Deusen, CFP®, is the Associate Financial Planning Nerd at Kitces.com, where he writes on practice management and technical topics for the Nerd's Eye View blog, with a particular interest in how advisors can show their ongoing value to prospective and current clients. In addition, he writes the popular weekly Weekend Reading For Financial Planners article and hosts live events on the Kitces platform. His work has appeared in the Investments & Wealth Monitor, Citywire RIA, and TheStreet, among other publications.


Adam previously worked at a financial planning firm in the Washington, D.C., area and as a journalist covering the banking and insurance industries. In addition to his work with Kitces.com, he serves as a volunteer financial planner and financial literacy class instructor for local non-profits.

Alex Canellopoulos, CFA, CFP®?, is the Director of Wealth at Vista Capital Partners, an independent wealth management firm serving high-net-worth individuals and families. He helps lead the firm's investment strategy, portfolio construction, research, and financial planning efforts, with a focus on evidence-based decision-making. Alex earned a bachelor's degree in finance and international business from the University of Montana, where he also served as captain of the men's tennis team. He also serves on the board of CFA Society Portland.

Jenn Buman, Housing and Care Advisor, 1st CHOICE Advisory Services (Mill Creek, 98082)

Jennifer Cook-Buman holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Washington with a pre-med focus,  and an MBA from Marylhurst University. She began her career in corporate America, gaining experience in both management and sales before transitioning to senior housing and care. In 2007, Jennifer founded a successful senior housing and care referral agency, providing guidance to seniors and their families through complex transitions. In 2024, she sold her business to 1st CHOICE and joined the agency full-time as a Housing & Care Advisor serving the Portland Metro area. She has served as Board Treasurer for the Metropolitan Senior Network and remains active in OSRAA, a leading association of referral agencies in Oregon. Jennifer combines her business acumen with deep expertise in senior housing to support families and professional partners navigating critical care decisions.

Kevin Chambers, Client Manager & Research Analyst, Headwater Investments (McMinnville, 97128)

In the multifaceted role of Managing Partner and Lead Advisor, Kevin manages new and current client relationships, forms firm strategy, and breaks down the team’s research into understandable and enlightening commentary. He shares this knowledge as a public speaker on financial and economic topics. Kevin earned his BA with a double major in Economics and International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. While completing Willamette University’s MBA for Professionals, he wrote a capstone on how to better serve non-profits as an advisor.
