VITA Certified Volunteer Tax Preparer
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an IRS program designed to empower volunteers to provide free tax preparation services to people with low-to-moderate income, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, those who have limited English proficiency, and others who need assistance. Volunteer Tax Preparers receive specialized training and work directly with eligible taxpayers to prepare their taxes. Volunteers commonly include working professionals, retirees, and students. Bi-lingual volunteers are especially needed.
Oregon State University’s VITA program focuses on reaching communities of highest need while providing experiential learning to college students and partnering with OSU Extension’s network of outreach. Experienced accounting and tax preparation professionals can share their knowledge and help their communities at the same time. We have volunteer opportunities in Corvallis, Bend, and Eugene.
