Scholarship Spotlight: Jordan Brewer

Who or what inspired you to get where you are today?
The inspiration that I looked to getting to where I am today was myself 10 years from now. In 10 years, will I look back and be proud of what I accomplished, or will I be disappointed I didn’t do more? What can I do today to make my future self better, in any way? If there’s one person I want to make proud, it’s myself. 

How will you define success as a CPA?
I will define success as a CPA by my understanding of my practice. Being in audit, I will look to my understanding of the industry and the company. I aim to ask questions to get this deep understanding and will know that I am on the right track when I know what we are doing and why we are doing it. 

What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about growth and development, both personally and professionally. What this looks like to me is frequently exercising, meditating, and reading. In my work, this looks like asking questions and always looking to put myself in situations where I have many of them. If I occasionally feel overwhelmed and a bit like I am out of my league, I know I am in the right spot.
