Steve Scranton
Steve is the Chief Economist for Washington Trust Bank and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation with over 40 years of investment and economic experience.
In Steve's role as the Chief Economist for Washington Trust Bank he participates in public speaking engagements, as well as authoring multiple communications, to keep clients and the public informed on economic conditions. Throughout Idaho, Oregon and Washington, Steve is a well-known speaker on economic conditions.

Ray Widmer III
RL has worked in public accounting since 2008. His focus is business and individual taxation, and he has extensive experience providing comprehensive tax services and general business consulting to construction, real estate, and manufacturing companies.
RL is a member of the firm's construction and real estate tax committee, which is responsible for leading the firm on tax issues relevant to those industries. He also has experience advising business on Qualified Opportunity Zone compliance and tax benefits.

Colin Quill
Colin Quill has practiced public accounting since 2013. After graduating from Willamette University College of Law, he earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington. Colin has experience in a wide range of state and local issues, including income/franchise taxes, gross receipts taxes, indirect taxes, property tax and unclaimed property. He also regularly consults on federal and state tax incentives across a number of different industries. He assists multistate businesses with nexus and taxability analyses, apportionment reviews, tax planning and structuring, voluntary disclosure agreements, letter rulings, refund claims, and appeals.

Michael Lortz, Chief Financial Officer, Downtown Development Group LLCMichael Lortz
Michael Lortz is the Chief Financial Officer for Downtown Development Group LLC (“DDG”), which owns and manages a commercial real estate portfolio that includes office, retail, industrial, and multi-family properties including significant holdings in downtown Portland. Prior to joining DDG in 2019, Michael spent 17 years at Geffen Mesher where he was a shareholder and chair of the firm’s real estate industry group. Michael was born in Portland, is a graduate of the University of Idaho, has been married for 20 years, and has 5 children.

Kim Lochridge
Kim Lochridge is Executive Vice President for Engineered Tax Services, Inc. (ETS), an industry-leading provider of specialty tax services in the United States. From Scottsdale Arizona, Kim possesses a powerful combination of real-world business management skills, with a fundamental understanding and practical application of tax codes as they relate to real estate, and energy efficiency incentives. This knowledge and experience has uniquely positioned her as a big-league tax expert for Fortune 500, high net worth individuals, ultra-high net worth individuals, single and multiple family offices, architects, engineers, and CPAs nationwide.
Ms. Lochridge is personally a real estate investor since the late 90's. This activity has earned her a seat on the tax committee for the Washington D.C. based Real Estate Roundtable group where she collaborates with top lawmakers and holds a variety of other board positions.
Prior to joining ETS, Ms. Lochridge has spent over a quarter of a century in entrepreneurship which had important roles within the real estate and energy industry. Kim is also a frequent multi-national speaker in the tax, investment, private wealth, and family office spaces where she altruistically shares her expertise with others.

- Federal Tax Update
Trent Baeckl, Shareholder, Perkins & CoTrent Baeckl
Trent Baeckl is a shareholder at Perkins & Co. Since joining the firm in 2007, he has primarily specialized within the firm’s real estate practice group. Trent’s professional background in public accounting includes experience in tax for a variety of clients and entities focusing on pass-through taxation compliance and planning for pass-through entities and corporations. He serves a wide range of real estate clients including investment funds, real estate developers, construction companies, architects and single family home builders. In addition to his work in the real estate industry, Trent serves professional and creative service firms, manufacturing and distribution companies, and retail businesses. He also works with the owners of these closely held businesses to ensure that planning is comprehensive in nature. Trent holds a Bachelor of Science of General Studies from the University of Michigan and a Master of Accounting degree from Washington State University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Oregon Society of CPAs, where he has served on the real estate education committee, and currently he serves on the board of St. Andrews Legal Clinic and Portland Alternative Investment Association.
