OSCPA Members: Have you been meaning to save the world but don't know how to get started? An easy step is to get involved with a not-for-profit in your community. OSCPA keeps a running list of openings, submitted by the not-for-profits.

Not-for-Profits: Board openings are posted free of charge for 501-(c) 3 not-for-profit organizations for the benefit of OSCPA members who are interested in public service. Listings are reviewed by the OSCPA and posted for three months; renewable upon request. The OSCPA assumes no responsibility for statements or postings herein, and reserves the right to reject any postings on our Web site.

To submit a listing, please email the following information to dootu@bnuzd.szc:

Please notify the OSCPA when the position has been filled. Thank you!

In Mulieribus

In Mulieribus (the Latin phrase meaning “amongst women”) is a female vocal ensemble dedicated to the promotion and enrichment of community through the art of music with a focus on works written primarily before 1750. In Mulieribus is a 501(c)3 Non Profit organization made up of a seven-women vocal ensemble formed in 2004. We are seeking a CPA to either join our Board or serve as a consultant. The Board meets every 6-8 weeks and ideally the CPA would be willing to attend the meetings.

We are currently working with QuickBooks for Non Profits. The concert season consists of three concerts a year plus a few independent singing engagements. In addition, we are working on developing our donor base and hope to apply for grants to fund some of our special projects. We invite anyone interested in our organization to visit My Space and listen to clips of our music.

If you are interested, please contact Nancy Pole-Wilhite, Board President, at 503-296-7913 or cwzgs@gajbdjsdwhshi.rky.

Sauvie Island Center

The Sauvie Island Center serves elementary school youth of North and Northeast Portland by providing hands-on educational field trips at our Sauvie Island location in Howell Territorial Park, managed by Metro. Through our education programs, the Center seeks to increase the food, farm, and environmental literacy of the next generation.

The trips take place on the Sauvie Island Organics farm, and the curriculum includes modules covering Soil Investigations, Plant Parts Investigations, and Wildlife and the Food Chain.  In 2009 we have expanded our field trip program to include the “Grow Lunch Garden,” where students plant, tend, harvest and eat fresh vegetables from their own field. The Grow Lunch Garden is designed to further address students’ awareness of food sources and empower them to make healthy food choices for themselves and their families.

This spring we'll have about 350 kids out to our site, and over 70% of them come from Title 1 schools in North Portland.  For many of the kids, this is the only field trip like this they will get during the school year. We've had a grant this last year that made the trips free to these schools, and we want to be able to continue to provide these trips during the next school year. We are currently serving approximately 600 children a year, and plan to increase that number to 1,500 children within five years.
