Teams & Projects

This is Your Year to Get Involved!

You know those people? The ones who always know what's going on. The ones with a friend in every firm. The ones on their way. Stars, stand-outs, call them what you will. We call them OSCPA volunteers. People who are out there connecting - choosing speakers for CPE conferences, emailing each other about new tax laws, talking to high school students about careers in accounting. They're making a difference in their communities, the profession, and in their own careers. You're one of those people. You know you are.

Strategic Interest Teams

OSCPA Strategic Interest Teams (SITs) are appointed by the OSCPA Chair and may have multi-year terms determined by each team's specific goals and objectives. All are linked to the Society's strategic objectives and mission.

Strategic Interest Teams typically meet five to seven times annually. Members usually meet in person; however, conference call meetings are increasingly used to accommodate busy schedules and facilitate volunteer participation statewide.

Project Teams

Project Teams are action groups that typically work on specific projects or activities often within an established timeframe. Project Team members work on a variety of professional issues and events. Once the project is completed, the Team may choose to discontinue meeting or opt to continue on an as-needed basis to meet the Team's objectives.

Project Teams provide a framework in which CPAs can use their expertise and share ideas, while benefiting personally and giving back to their community. Many Teams find they only need to meet two or three times to complete a project, while other teams may wish to meet more frequently. Members wishing to serve on a Project Team will be advised of the team's project calendar, since schedules are dependent on the Team's particular area of activity.

Short on Time?

The OSCPA has a variety of one-time projects throughout the year. Tell us your interests and we'll let you know when an opportunity comes up:
  • Feed the Pig™ - helping young Oregonians make wise financial choices
  • Talking to students about what it's like to be a CPA
  • Granting interviews to the press/media
  • Writing articles for OSCPA print and electronic media
  • Pro Bono Services
