OSCPA Members: Are you available to provide volunteer assistance for start-up non-profit organizations that are in need of informal, no-fee accounting assistance? The OSCPA maintains a roster of pro-bono service requests below, submitted by the start-up non-profit organizations.
Start-up Not-for-Profits: Start-up non-profit organizations who are in need of informal, no-fee accounting assistance may post their request free of charge. The scope of short-term assistance requested is limited to general accounting suggestions on information, questions and problems (e.g., set-up of accounting books, assistance with filing for 501-c-3 status). Such accounting assistance is not intended to be comprehensive and/or final as to the appropriate action to be taken by an organization, and the OSCPA makes no representation or warranties, expressed or implied, concerning the qualifications or experience of any such member of the OSCPA. Any OSCPA member providing this assistance does so on a voluntary basis with no fee to your organization. Listings are reviewed by the OSCPA and posted for three months; renewable upon request. The OSCPA assumes no responsibility for statements or postings herein, and reserves the right to reject any postings on our Web site.
To submit a request, please email the following information to dootu@bnuzd.szc:
A brief listing including the organization’s name, mission/purpose, description of your pro-bono request (be specific; e.g., include requested start date and anticipated close date), and a contact name, organization’s address, phone number, email, organization's logo and Web site address (if available).
Please notify the OSCPA when you are contacted by a CPA to assist with your project. Thank you! |

We are Well Arts Institute, our mission is to: Explore, develop, and practice creativity as a means of wellness. We are a non-profit agency that works in arts in healthcare. The works of Well Arts Institute provides a common ground for the development, implementation and documentation of the benefits of creativity as a catalyst in the healing process.
We are seeking a CPA to serve as Treasurer on the Board of Directors. Start date could be anytime, the sooner the better and end date is up to you. We would love a CPA to join our board, but if it’s too much some guidance with our books in the interim would be MUCH appreciated. A few hours of time, maybe once a month, is all that is needed. Or a few hours once just to help get our bookkeeping off and running would be great!

We are a church camp advisory board that is forming a non-profit corporation to operate Camp Arrah Wanna (Welches, OR). The facility is a camping and conference center owned by the American Baptist Churches of Oregon (ABCO). ABCO desires to turn the day-to-day management of the camp over to a non-profit group affiliated with (but not controlled by) ABCO. Our advisory group intends to become the board of directors. Members reside primarily in the Portland and Salem areas.
We are drafting articles of incorporation this spring, but need assistance this summer & fall with filing for 501(c(3)) status. Our finances are handled by the ABCO Bookkeeper who uses QuickBooks for operational ($400K) and capital ($250K) budgets and financial reporting. We intend to transfer financial management responsibilities to a different person or entity once the non-profit organization is formed (i.e., January 2009).
Pro-bono services from a CPA are needed because of our "start-up" status and limited financial resources. Previous experience forming non-profit corporations is highly desired.
